Periphery invites the viewer to consider the meaning of borders, both natural and man-made, the liminal space that exists between them, as well as implying divisions between, the rich and the poor, developed and underdeveloped, the rich north and the global south, and many others, while at the same time exploring the force of accumulation by colonizing a flexible fence like structure almost in its entirety, posing then the question of:
Is the border, fence or other separation the true barrier? Or is it the small, cumulative effort that is the real force capable of eliminating all borders?
Periphery was created with collaborations with the community through Artspace on the Go, and high school students at Green Level High school.
